Port Huron Sideways: A Photo Gallery by Pete Boden

Yesterday, we featured head-on raceboat shots captured by photographer Pete Boden during last weekend’s Offshore Powerboat Association International Race in Port Huron, Mich., and Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Today we take a different angle, so to speak, with some of Boden’s turn shots from the race. While head-on shots present in-your-face action, turn shots reveal the often wild, unpredictable and maybe even a tad out of control at times nature of offshore powerboat racing.

While the degrees of the turn in each image is different, they’re all intriguing. Our favorite has to be of Reindl’s 24-foot One Design “Bat Boat” barely connected to the water, but there are other fun and frankly wild shots in the slideshow above.

Boden has been a busy man since mid June, having photographed the OPA race and New Jersery Performance Powerboat Club Atlantic City Rally, Michigan’s Boyne Thunder Poker Run—including a special early morning cover shoot for the latest issue of Speed On The Water digital magazine—and the OPA St. Clair River Classic, and more. The guy is a workhouse, for sure, but more like a thoroughbred based on the consistently high quality of his images.
