Six Times A Charm For Nor-Tech-Loving Double R Customer

Repeat buyers are the bread-and-butter of any high-performance powerboat dealership. Just ask Peter Roberts, who co-owns Double R Performance, a well-known Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Powerboats dealer in the Toronto, Canada, area with his brother, Raymond. Roberts delivered Nor-Tech No. 6—a 390 Sport Center console powered by triple Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines—to longtime customer Scott Murray before departing for the annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which closed yesterday.

“We sold him a Nor-Tech 36 Super Cat and two Roadsters, and this is his third 390,” he said. “The residual value of the 390 is so high that our customers can own them for a bit, sell them, order and buy the same model and stay in a new boat.

“The boat runs in the high-80-mph range,” he continued. “Scott said he can get to 85 mph without even trying.”

Robert estimated that Double R Performance has ordered and sold 35 Nor-Tech 390 Sport models since taking on the line. Like many of the most recent Double R-ordered builds, Murray’s 39-footer boasts Double R’s “signature fade” in its graphics package.

“Paul Diogo, Nor-Tech’s painter, just kills it with his fades,” Roberts said.

Roberts added that he wouldn’t be surprised if Murray eventually moves into another new 390 Sport. The 39-footer is far and away Double R’s hottest-selling model.

“I have sold 10 Nor-Tech’s since January 1, and eight have been 390s,” he said. “All told over the years, I think we have sold 10 powerboats to Scott.”
