Sneak Peek: Outboard-Powered Outerlimits SV 29

Though its first new 39-foot center console and 36-foot catamaran are months away for Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats, a new twin-outboard-engine-powered 29-footer is just around the corner. According to Jason Amaral, the general manager of the Bristol, R.I., custom boat company, the first SV 29 sportboat powered by Mercury Racing 300R outboards will be completed by June.

The first 29-footer is going to a longtime Outerlimits customer.

“It’s beautiful with the outboards hanging off the transom,” Amaral said. “I think the SV 29 is even prettier with outboards than it was originally with a single sterndrive engine.

The five-seat, stepped-hull V-bottom will be equipped with a pair of large Garmin GPS units at the dash. Using a graphics scheme created by Stephen Miles of Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., the Outerlimits crew will paint the boat in house.

Amaral said he expects the SV 29 to run in the low- to-mid-90-mph range with 600 hp worth of naturally aspirated V-8 outboards on its transom.

“It just looks awesome—and imagine what it will look like when it’s painted,” Amaral said. “I think people are going to love it.”
