Sneak Peek: Outerlimits SV 29 OB On The Water

Powered by a pair of Mercury Racing 300R outboard engines, the first Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SV 29 OB sportboat has been getting a workout this week. Company sales manager Dan Kleitz has been testing the much-anticipated 29-footer on Naragansett Bay near the company’s headquarters in Bristol, R.I. Kleitz is pleased with the results so far.

“We’ve gotten it to 97 mph and we’re not done yet,” he said. “This is a new project for us—we’ve never done an SV 29 with outboards before—so we’re still figuring out the right setup and learning as we go.

“But this much I know already,” he added, then laughed. “It’s a blast to drive.”

The new boat has so far topped out at 97 mph.

Though the SV 29 is the company’s smallest boat to be powered by Mercury Racing outboard engines, it’s not the first. During the 2017 Miami International Boat Show, Outerlimits unveiled an SL 41 powered by triple 400-hp Mercury Racing outboards for Dave Burgess of Michigan.

“Between our new sport cat—we just popped the deck for the first one and we already have the first hull—center console and RIB, we have a lot going on right now at Outerlimits,” said Kleitz. “But it was awesome to finally get the SV 29 OB on the water this week and start to dial it in. We’re almost there.”

From any angle, the outboard-powered 29-footer is a looker.
