Adrenaline Powerboats Ready to Show Off New 45 Speede In Miami

For the first time in the Lincolnton, Ga., company’s 20-year history of building custom boats, Adrenaline Powerboats is going to have a display at the Miami International Boat Show next week.

With reserved space on Pier 8 in front of Miami Marine Stadium on Virginia Key, Mike Layton and the team at Adrenaline will have two boats in the water. First, the stunning yellow and silver ZRX 47 Carbon Series offshore V-bottom powered twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines that made its debut last spring—the same one that was on display at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the end of January—is going to be at the docks.

And although it’s hard to imagine that boat being overshadowed, it is likely to happen thanks to the company’s first 45 Speede that will be sitting next to it. While the new V-bottom is built on the same running surface as the ZRX 47 and is an all-epoxy, all- carbon infused boat designed and assembled utilizing high-tech CAD and CNC machining processes just like the 47, that’s where the similarities end.

According to Layton, the boat, which is powered by quad Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines, has a much different look and feel than the ZRX.

“All I can say is this boat is super unique in its configuration,” Layton said. “I feel like it is the answer for people who want outboard power, want a cabin and want the look and feel of a true performance boat.”

Layton invited anyone who is going to be at the boat show to come see his latest creation. For now, he doesn’t plan to do demo rides as the boat is going to hit the water for the first time in Miami so he’s not sure how dialed in it will be.
