Brunswick’s Fort Wayne Operation Celebrates Safety Milestone

Though none of the Crestliner, Cypress Bay Pontoon, Harris Pontoon and Lund models that come of out the Brunswick Corporation powerboat manufacturing plant in Fort Wayne, Ind., could be described as high-performance, when it comes to safety that description definitely fits the 360,000-square-foot facility. The operation has been injury free since 2016, which translates to two million hours without any injury-forced lost time, according to a Brunswick press release.

Employees at Brunswick’s powerboat-manufacturing plant in Fort Wayne, Ind., celebrated their achievement earlier this week.

“We pride ourselves on promoting a safe and sustainable work environment for our employees and continuing to engage our entire team in working safely every day,” said Steve Langlais, the president of Brunswick’s Fort Wayne operation, in the release. “Two million hours of no lost time is an incredible achievement and I am proud of the culture we have created here in Fort Wayne and the attention to detail paid by all of our employees.”

Employees at the facility separated the safety milestone earlier this week.

“We dedicate a lot of time and effort to preparation and prevention in our manufacturing facility,” said Langlais. “This honor is a testimony to the sustainability of our safety culture at Brunswick, our employees and the communities where we live and work.”

Brunswick’s Fort Wayne operation has been manufacturing powerboats for more than 50 years. According to the release, the plant currently is on track to cut recordable incidents and its recordable incident rate by 50 percent. Since 2013, the Fort Wayne facility reportedly has doubled its workforce.
