Cigarette-AMG Collaboration Continues With 41 AMG Carbon Fiber Edition

No Cigarette Racing Team new-model year, much less the annual Miami International Boat Show, would be the same without a new Cigarette Racing Team-Mercedes-AMG creation. This time around at the annual Miami happening, the iconic performance boat builder and exotic luxury sportscar company focused their combined attention on a center console, and the result is the jaw-dropping 41 AMG Carbon Fiber Edition. Boat No. 11 in the collaborative partnership between the two luxury-performance brands, the lightweight 41-footer was inspired by the current Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-door Coupe, which is powered by a hand-built 633-hp engine.

“For 12 years we have been exploring the limits of performance on land and at sea with Cigarette Racing. Inspired by the incredible new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4- door Coupe, the 41’ AMG Carbon Edition impresses with its extremely high-performance and its expressive design,” said Tobias Moers, the chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, in a press release from the company.

To achieve “dynamic performance coupled with versatility,” according to the release, the Cigarette Racing Team’s engineers followed a single design aim in their development work: weight reduction. Compared to the 41 GTR high-performance center console of 2017, the engineers were able to reduce weight by approximately 500 pounds thanks to an optimized mixture of lightweight materials which includes carbon-fiber. The boat’s hull was built using sandwich construction with carbon-fiber structural laminates on both sides of a lightweight core. The 41-footer’s deck, rudder, roof lining and hardtop of the 41’ AMG Carbon Edition are also made of carbon-fiber.

“The new Cigarette Racing boat underlines the current brand aesthetics of Mercedes-AMG, which makes the passion for aesthetics and power noticeable,” said Gorden Wagener, chief design officer for Daimler AG, in the release. “The strong brand graphics become symbolic for this experience. Thus, the performance luxury by AMG can also be experienced
at sea.”

Quad Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines power the 15,600-pound 41-footer—constructed with a carbon fiber deck, painted Cigarette panoramic hardtop and helm station—to an impressive 83 mph. The custom-painted helm station boasts a padded dash and three 17-inch Garmin GPS chartplotters.

For enhanced prolonged driver and passenger comfort, the Opa-Locka, Fla., sportboat and center console company used “Cigarette Cool” upholstery, which reportedly reflects up to 30 percent of the absorbed heat. This technology, according to the release, “made a darker color choice possible in the interior, while retaining a comfortable and luxurious atmosphere.” The helm station also is equipped with three multifunctional 17-inch full-HD Garmin displays with touchscreens.
