DCB Delivers New M31 Widebody with Twin Ilmor 725 Engines

Not only is the latest DCB Performance Boats M31 Widebody powered by a set of Ilmor Marine 725 engines—not the conventional DCB package as of late for its 31-foot catamarans—the clean-looking blue, gray and white boat that is headed to Idaho includes another unique feature—an all-white sun pad on each engine hatch.

The first M31 Widebody with the sun pads, the boat features a four-person rear bench and two high-back bucket seats up front finished in typical top-notch DCB fashion.

Yesterday DCB’s Tony Chiaramonte water-tested and delivered the boat, which includes twin IMCO Marine SCX drives with a 1.5:1 gear ratio, to a customer from Washington who plans to use the boat on Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho. The owner, who traded in his DCB F32 catamaran that was powered by twin Ilmor 710 engines, loved his boat and the reliability of its power plants so much that he ordered his M31 with Ilmor’s newer-generation 725-hp engines.

According to Chiaramonte the boat ran great reaching a top speed of 122 mph with a set of 34”-pitch Mercury Racing Bravo One propellers. He said the boat is set up for reliability and overall performance, not just top speed. With a different gear ratio and propellers, he believes the boat could run in the mid to high 120s.
