Former Habitual Mystic C4400 In Texas With New Owner And Name

Of the five C4400 catamarans John Cosker and the team at Mystic Powerboats in DeLand, Fla., have built, Habitual—hull No. 4—is far and away the best-known. Original owners Chad and Heather Collier, who live just outside Nashville, had their Mercury Racing 1350 engine-powered 44-footer dressed in what painter Stephen Miles called his “most intricate paintjob to date.”

Thanks to new owner Ross Ramsey, the immaculate cat has a new home in Fort Worth, Texas, and the boat has been renamed Huckleberry OG.

Dubbed Huckleberry OG in honor of the Texas-based owner’s late father, the Mystic cat will run primarily on Possum Kingdom Lake and Lake Texoma this season.

“I have been following that boat since it was debuted at the 2017 Miami boat show,” said the 32-year-old Texan, who does most of his boating on the Lone Star state’s Lake Texoma and Possum Kingdom Lake. “One of the things I like most about the boat, is it being cut down five inches and the highly detailed Stephen Miles Design paint scheme. The ride quality is great and the boat is very quick, which comes as no surprise with a (Mystic principal) John Cosker build.

“Of course, it helps also that my wife, McKenzie, loves the boat—when we put eyes on it she told me, ‘This is the one,’” he added.

Ramsey has owned five high-performance boats since 2013. Huckleberry OG is his third catamaran. Before the cat arrived in Texas, it went back to Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., for touch-up work and removal of its original name.

To enhance traction for the owner and his passengers, its cockpit and bustle were outfitted with Gatorstep surfacing via Surf Toy and Action Watersports. The boat’s original MYCO hydraulic tilt trailer was painted in a high-gloss black hue from Final Finish and 777 Graphics, as was the Freightliner M2 hauler—thanks to Unlimited Concepts and Lively Machine Company—that will pull the rig to events.

Heart of Texas Transport hauled the cat to its new home. (Ramsey also will use the company to haul the boat to poker runs in Texas and elsewhere, he said.) After the boat was delivered, Ryan Zivitski, Mystic’s general manager, came to Texas to run the 44-footer with him on Lake Texoma.

“Ryan shared a lot of knowledge and really got me more dialed in with the boat,” he said. “He’s a very professional, really nice guy.”

The stunning 44-footer also will pull duty as a promotional vehicle for RP Elite Motorsports, a truck and high-performance boat sales company Ramsey plans to open later this year.

The progression to Huckleberry OG actually began for Ramsey when he was a boy. His father, Todd, owned a 29-foot Donzi called Wildcatter. He fell in love with speed on the water and it brought him closer to his father, who died in 2017. Ramsey named the boat in his honor.

“He is the original Huckleberry OG,” he said.

Beyond the personal use of its owner, Huckleberry OG will be a promotional vehicle for RP Elite Motorsports, a new company Ramsey is planning to open this year. The Fort Worth-based outfit will sell trucks, from three-quarter-ton models to Freightliners, as well as high-end pre-owned boats. Ramsey’s brother, Ryan, will be the company’s general manager.

“We will have a full-service marine side as well that is fully Mercury-certified,” said Ross Ramsey. “We are shooting for a grand opening date in early October, and as we get closer we will be sure to let the public know. I know my brother, McKenzie and our partners couldn’t be more excited for this new business.”

Added Ryan Ramsey, “I’m honored to be a part of it and we look forward to the future in both the auto and marine industry.”
