Gallery Of The Week: OPA Winners At Lake Hopatcong

The sixth event of the Offshore Powerboat Association season, last Sunday’s Lake Hopatcong Grand Prix in New Jersey produced winners in several classes. And photographer Tim Sharkey—having shot the Joe Sgro Memorial Fun Run the day before—made it there in time to capture the action.

With the largest field of the day—12 teams registered—Class 7 saw Evil Ways take the win. In Class 6, the second largest category with seven teams entered, Liquid Addiction earned the checkered flag.

A couple of spin-outs reportedly topped the Super Vee Lite action, which saw Woah Moma best the five-boat field. The three-boat Class 4 fleet finished its contest with America Outlaw finishing first followed by Saris Racing and Ammo Camo. Two-boat field included Class 3, where Strictly Business took the win, Class 5 with winner Typhoon and Pontoon class, where the Mason Street team claimed victory.

Solo-boat class winners included Shadow Pirate in Super Stock, Bounty Hunter in Class 1 and Bat Boat in Class 2.

Next up on the OPA circuit are the organization’s World Championships Nov. 14-18 during the Englewood Beach (Fla.) Waterfest event.
