Image Of The Week: Bananas XL Peels Out

With three new catamarans and one V-bottom all run by their owners in last month’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout competition, no go-fast powerboat builder had better representation during the Central Missouri event than DCB Performance Boats of El Cajon, Calif. Better still, all four DCB owners— Dave Megugorac in his M44 dubbed Bananas XL, Brad Benson in his M33R, Mauricio Vivanco in his M31 and Lawrence Coelho in his vintage 28 Extreme V-bottom—finished at the top of their classes.

With a run of 156 mph, Megugorac laid down the fastest DCB pass of the weekend in his outrageous 44-footer, which is powered by dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines. Tony Chiaramonte of the DCB owners group said he was proud of his customers for their participation in all of the Shootout festivites.

And of course they also displayed their boats at the Camden On The Lake Resort docks, the host venue for Super Cat Fest, during the weekend. (DCB is a loyal sponsor of Super Cat Fest.)

“We are so proud of our customers and the effort they put into the Shootout every year,” said Chiaramonte. “I wonder sometimes why other manufacturers don’t have more customer participation in the (top-speed) competition. Our DCB customer family never fails to come out and compete—and put on a show.”
