Image Of The Week: Donzi 41 GT Showcased At Last

While we’ve enjoyed the many images on social media of the first Donzi 41 GT—short for Grand Touring—sportboat, we hadn’t found any that showcased the model in the breathtaking style it so richly deserves. So during our inaugural Speedonthewater.com Sport Catamaran/Mercury Racing Verado 400R Outboard roundup a couple of weeks back at Super Cat Fest in Central Missouri, we took matters into our own hands and invited the folks at Big Thunder Marine and (Donzi parent company) Iconic Marine Group to the bring the 41-footer to our morning photo session.

As expected, Pete Boden, our chief photographer, nailed the shoot of the 41-footer, which was sandwiched in with seven sport cats and a new Fountain center console. Of course, having two gorgeous models on board to showcase the boat’s versatile open-cockpit layout didn’t hurt.

Powered by a pair of Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines, the first 41 GT reportedly has reached 75 mph, and a triple 400-hp outboard-powered model is next in line, according to Joe Curran, Iconic Marine Group’s chief operating officer.

Said Curran, “I don’t want to give away all of our plans, but the 41 GT isn’t just a new model, it’s a new model on which other future models will be based.”

We can’t wait to see what’s next. But in the meantime, the first new breed of Donzi is looking good.
