Image Of The Week: Green With Envy On The Water
Like them or not, performance-oriented center consoles saved the go-fast powerboat market. Without center console sales, new go-fast catamarans and V-bottom sportboats would be nonexistent for many builders—as would those builders. Center consoles carry the high-performance powerboat market and that won’t change anytime soon. Make that ever.

Still, when it comes to the wow factor nothing quite matches a spare-no-expense, purpose-built creation such as Envy, a 50-footer Mystic Powerboats catamaran recently repowered with Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines on the water. And participants and spectators during last weekend’s Florida Powerboat Club Fort Myers Poker Run got a great look the exotic creation owned by Chris Cox of New York.
Though he came to enjoy the event with longtime friend and cockpit-mate Herb Stotler, Cox used the poker run as a shakedown cruise opportunity of sorts for that catamaran’s new dual-calibration engines, which he ran in 1,350-hp mode for the weekend.
“But the main reason we were there was to support Stu Jones and his great event and, oh yeah, all while having tons of fun with great people,” he said in yesterday’s news story covering the event. “It was a win-win.”
It sure was. For as much as we love and appreciate center consoles, there’s nothing quite like seeing a pure go-fast powerboat such as Envy in action.
