Image Of The Week: Mystic Blues For Year In Review

Immersed in the tedious job of reviewing thousands of digital images for possible inclusion in our upcoming 2019 Speed On The Water Year In Review collectible print edition—you might want to order yours now as we will run out—Jason Johnson, my speedonthewater.com co-publisher, and I have a lot of difficult choices to make. Fun it is but easy it’s not, and for that we have speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden and several other talented shooters to thank. Boden and company do great work, which makes the decision-making process that much harder.

That’s a high-class problem—one we’re grateful to have.

Despite tough conditions in Key West earlier this month, speedonthewater.com came home with outstanding images of a dozen boats—including this lovely M4200 center console—for its 2019 Year In Review Issue (click image to enlarge). Photo courtesy/copyright Pete Boden/Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

For several years, we’ve orchestrated a Saturday morning photo shoot during the annual early November offshore powerboat races and Florida Powerboat Club poker run weekend in Key West, Fla. And almost every year, we’ve battled weather. But we’ve managed to get the job done (like us, Boden does not give up easily) as it’s our last chance to grab images for our Year In Review issue.

Among the dozen boats we had Boden shoot this year on that rainy morning was a beautiful Mystic Powerboats M4200 luxury center console powered by four Mercury Racing 400R outboard engines. The resulting images are a study in blue hues, from the 42-footer itself to the waters just outside Key West Harbor.

Like you, we’re looking forward to seeing how the shot above—or whichever one we ultimately choose—will look in print.
