Scenes From Third Annual Mystic Owners’ Key West Lunch Run

Answer: It’s raining.

That’s exactly how yesterday started for Mystic Powerboats and speedonthewater.com, which planned on piggybacking photo shoots. Thanks to speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden, several boat builders and their patient customers, we dodged enough rain drops to get what we needed for the website and upcoming 2019 Year In Review print magazine, which goes on sale next week. But the rain was hard enough for most of the Mystic owners to leave their luxury performance center consoles and come by car to the third annual Mystic Owners’ Key West Fun Run at the Stock Island Yacht Club.

No matter—the turnout was sensational, the lunch delicious and the company great.

Mystic production manager Ryan Zvitski and his wife, Amber, who planned the event and has taken over the company’s apparel business, had much to be proud of today (click image to enlarge).

In the four years since Mystic introduced its first 42-foot center console, the company has developed an impressive group of brand-loyal customers, built a solid dealer network and added another 38-footer to its center console line, as well as a 38-foot sport catamaran. While Mystic founder John Cosker, who has run a verifiable 200-plus mph more than anyone we personally know in the high-performance powerboat world, has deep roots in the world of aquatic speed, establishing a center console line transformed his company into a truly viable business.

That just four Mystic center consoles—all docked at Stock Island Marina for the weekend—made it to today’s lunch did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of any of the more than 60 people on hand for the event. Cosker and Greg Weber, Mystic’s director of dealer development, kept their thank-you speeches short and sweet, but they were authentic and heartfelt. Their message to their guests was one of simple gratitude.

“We couldn’t do it with you,” Cosker said to the group.

And from everyone on hand, the gratitude went both ways.
