Image of the Week, Part IV: Last Light in Clearwater
We saved the best for last in the third and final installment of our fall “Sunset on the Water” series of images this month. Naturally, it’s Florida Gulf Coast shot—Clearwater to be precise—by photographer Jay Nichols.

Nichols caught this image two nights ago from the dry pits of the Super Boat International National Championships. The photo captures a low-level view from the City of Clearwater looking toward Clearwater Beach, and the bridge that connects the two.
But what it really captures is what makes Florida an aquatic wonderland. Look closely and you can spot the GEICO “Caveman” Cigarette 38′ Top Gun—in town for this weekend’s offshore races—surrounded by other go-fast boats, center console fishing machines and yachts.
No doubt that Nichols will bring back hundreds of great images from today’s event. But he’ll have a tough time topping this one.
