Image Of The Week: Pro Floors Takes Off

If you watched yesterday’s season-opening American Power Boat Association Offshore Championship Series races in Cocoa Beach, Fla., you caught the 42-foot Pro Floors Racing MTI catamaran on its way to a hard-fought victory over five other teams in the Super Cat class. And if you watched closely, you noticed how connected throttleman Grant Bruggemann and driver Wayne Valder kept the boat to the water. Throughout the eight-lap, 60-mile race they ran flat, even when the five-plus-mile course bumped up in the later laps.

Still, speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden did manage to capture a rare image of the 42-footer getting a little air yesterday, and that—plus Pro Floors Racing’s victory in Cocoa Beach—made it the perfect candidate for our Image of the Week.

With their Cocoa Beach victory behind them, Bruggemann and Valder are on a winning trajectory heading into the Lake Race on June 1 in Central Missouri. Still, when they hit the Lake of the Ozarks water early next month, you can be sure they’ll stay connected to it.
