Super Cat And Class One Owners’ Groups Commit To Full APBA Series

Though the American Power Boat Association Offshore Championship Series is being produced by the Offshore Powerboat Association and Powerboat P1 in conjunction with the organizers at each of the circuit’s six venues, the Super Cat and Class One categories have their own team owners’ groups. For the Super Cat class, that group is called Supercat Racing and headed by Mark Waddington of the Performance Boat Center team. On the Class One side, the group is called the Offshore Team Association and led by Miss GEICO team partner Scott Colton and throttleman Steve Curtis.

Owners groups from Class One and Super Cat ranks have committed to running the entire six-race APBA Offshore Championship Series.

Both groups were formed by their respective team owners to protect the interests of their offshore racing classes. And both have officially agreed to participate in all six races on the APBA Offshore Championship Series, which just completed its season-opener yesterday in Cocoa Beach, Fla., according to Powerboat P1 head Azam Rangoonwala.

“The Class One and Super Cat race teams have confirmed their continued participation within the six-race APBA Offshore Championship series ending in Fort Myers Beach,” he said. “After the success of Thunder on Cocoa Beach we have interest here in the United States and abroad to grow both of these classes as well as others.”

Set for June 1, the next contest in the series in the Lake Race on the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri.
