Image Of The Week: Victory At Sea, Skater 46 Style

Speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden’s early July photo shoot on Lake Michigan produced a slew of pretty images that—at a glance—looked to be taken in the tropics. But in two full days of shooting outside Boyne City, Mich., and beyond, Boden also snagged photos that showed the massive waterway in its more-mercurial form.

The moods of Lake Michigan are notoriously fickle. Photos by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix/speedonthewater.com.

Among Boden’s stand-out photos were several of Turner Up, a new full-cabin 46-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran powered by dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines. The impressive cat is owned by Rob Turner, a longtime performance-boating enthusiast who lives in Sandusky, Ohio.

Lake Michigan displays many moods, and as the locals say if you don’t like current conditions, just wait an hour. Despite the ominous sky, the water in this Image of the Week is relatively tame. But the catamaran cutting through it is anything but.
