Lake Cumberland Poker Run Adding Private Jamey Johnson Concert For 2021 Return

Following last year’s pandemic-forced cancellation of one of the most popular poker runs in the country, the team at State Dock Marina in Jamestown, Ky., is going big for the 15th annual Lake Cumberland Poker Run, which is scheduled for Sept. 9-12 on the scenic lake. Taking place in just four weeks, the two-day poker run known for its colossal raft-ups and evening entertainment is taking it up a notch on Saturday with a private concert by country music superstar Jamey Johnson.

“Normally our Friday and Saturday night parties are open to the public, but we’re doing things a little different this year,” said Shanalda Burden, the Southeastern Regional Marketing Specialist for Suntex Marinas, which owns State Dock. “We can’t wait to host everyone here again for the poker run. Since we couldn’t have the event last year, we wanted to do something extra special this time around.”

Burden explained that the Saturday night poker run festivities will feature a private party event with Johnson, an 11-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, performing a 21-and-over concert for State Dock slip customers and poker run sponsors, drivers and crew only. On Friday evening, the 21-and-over Lake Cumberland Poker Run Dock Party with entertainment by DJ Bill Kingery is going to be open to the public for anyone who purchases a $30 wristband.

“Registration is going well—we were a little behind schedule this year getting everything live on the site, but it’s all up and running now,” Burden said. “We’re expecting a great event with a massive number of boats, an unbelievable atmosphere and an unforgettable exclusive concert.”

Burden added that participants or sponsors can contact State Dock directly for more information and that registration details can be submitted online.
