Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Hosts Another Impressive Shootout On The Strip

We all know I am no Pete Boden—I don’t claim to have anywhere close to the same behind-the-camera skill level as our chief photographer—but that isn’t going to stop me from sharing some of the pictures I took with my iPhone last night because I left my “nicer” Canon camera in my car and didn’t want to hike back to the parking spot that one of Lake of the Ozarks’ finest helped me find a block or so off Bagnell Dam Boulevard.

So rather than expect Boden, who is going to be up bright and early to prepare for Thursday morning’s Speedonthewater.com Center Console Roundup at Shady Gators, to sort through the hundreds of pictures he mostly like took during Wednesday night’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout on the Strip gathering presented by Bluave Marine Audio, I figured I’d pick out a handful of the best images I snapped while walking Bagnell Dam Boulevard to connect with friends in the industry and check out the couple of miles worth of boats lined up on both sides of the street.

While my images above aren’t likely to blow you away—the main one above might, but that’s because it’s one of Boden’s many squirrel shots—here’s what will. This year’s Shootout on the Strip was one of the best I’ve seen and here is why. The thunderstorms surrounded the strip wth five miles to spare to the north and south for most of the evening but never came close to forcing people off the street until most of the boats were already on their way home. Then there were the tens of thousands of people who flocked to the event to check out what I believe just might the best overall manufacturer representation the event has witnessed.

I mean Nor-Tech was well represented as was Adrenaline Powerboats, Baja Marine, Donzi Marine, Fountain Powerboats, MTI, Mystic Powerboats, Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats, Sunsation Boats, Wright Performance, HCB Center Console Yachts and more. I probably say this every year, but the Shootout on the Strip was over the top this year. Of course the new policy allowing for open containers on a majority of the street was a welcome change. But the best part, as usual, was catching up with friends from across the country. Folks like John Woodruff and John O’Neill of Georgia, Bill Pyburn and Eric Belisle of Florida, Mike Clesceri and Jason Johnson (yes there’s another one) of Illinois, and my California friends, including Lawrence Coehlo, Devin Wozencraft and DCB Performance Boats representatives Tony Chiaramonte and Jeff Johnston.
