The 2015 Super Boat International Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla., conclude today with races for all classes on the 4.5-mile course. The first race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Though race officials originally planned for all classes to run extra laps to create greater overall distances, they have decided to stick with the same number of laps today that they stipulated for Wednesday and Friday in light of today’s rough-water conditions. As the day progresses, winds are predicted to kick up from 20- to 25-mph with six- to-nine-foot seas and “very rough nearhshore waters” according to the National Weather Service forecast.

In taking first place in the first two races of the week, the defending world champion Manufacturer 4-class Crazy Chicken/Babcock’s, the two-boat Unlimited-class CMS team and the Superboat Extreme-class Hooters-Insitgator team head into day’s double-points race controlling their own destinies. But in the Superboat, Superboat Stock and Superboat Vee classes, world championship titles are very much in play today.
Here’s a quick look at today’s schedule:
10 a.m.—Manufacturer 3 (start No. 1) and Manufacturer 4 (start No. 2)
4.75 laps for 21 miles.
12:30 p.m.—Superboat Extreme and Superboat Vee (start No. 1) and Superboat Stock (start No. 2)
6.75 laps for 30 miles.
1:30 p.m.—Superboat Unlimited
9.75 laps for 43 miles.
2:30 p.m.—Superboat
9.75 laps for 43 miles.
The Livestream broadcasts for the SBI Key West Worlds are scheduled to begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each race.
