Marine Dynamics Open For Rigging And More In West Michigan

After working for some reputable outfits in the high-performance marine industry the past couple of years, Michigan native Adam Low decided to start his own rigging shop in Byron Center, Mich. Specializing in performance boat rigging, including repowers, dash updates, stereo installations and complete custom one-off jobs, Marine Dynamics is now open for business and Low is thrilled to have his own facility.

“I’ve always wanted to do my own thing from the start,” said Low, who owned an automotive performance shop in Kalamazoo before pursuing a career in his main passion—boating a few years ago. “I figured now was a good time to take the plunge and start a shop that focuses on what I do best. People like my work and I feel like there are plenty of jobs out there, especially in this area.”

Low worked at Adrenaline Powerboats in Georgia for about a year before coming back to Michigan to work at Boat Customs in Caledonia. Currently he has an Eliminator Boats 38 Eagle V-bottom (right, click to enlarge) in his shop getting re-rigged with a pair of refreshed Mercury Racing 500EFI engines as well as a Fountain Powerboats 35 Lightning getting a full dash/helm upgrade. He also cleaned up the rigging on the new PowerQuest 380 Avenger with twin Mercury Racing 520 engines. (Look for a story on the new 38-footer once it’s complete on speedonthewater.com.)

Not only is Low, 26, a likeable up-and-comer in the industry, he has some deep boating roots as his father, Tom, worked for Skater Powerboats in the 1980s and he’s competed in outboard stock-class races for several years. Currently Low is manager of the Chicken Sandwich Race Team, and he drives both a kneel-down runabout and a thundercat inflatable two-person boat with observer, Marc Anderson.

“The new shop is 3,200 square feet and I’ll be able accommodate about three boats at a time,” said Low, who wanted to thank several local boaters for their support, including Rusty Kidder, Pat McHugh and Neil Wallace. “It’s all set up and I’ve got several projects on the schedule already. I’ve set up our account with Waves and Wheels and Bluave Marine Audio, and I’m carrying Marine Design Corporation products like TrimSync and DriveGuardian.”
