Mercury Marine Verado 400 Outboard Honored As ‘Top Product’

Boating Industry magazine has named the Mercury Marine Verado 400 outboard engine, which was unveiled at the 2019 Miami International Boat Show, one of its Top Products for 2019. Mercury earned the award, which was announced in a press release from the Fond du Lac, Wis., powerboat engine and accessories company earlier this week, for “its commitment to innovation” as reflected in the new supercharged 400-hp outboard model.

Not to be confused with Mercury Racing’s 400R outboard engine, the Verado 400 is the most powerful outboard in the Mercury Marine line

“After testing the new 400-hp Verado ahead of its launch, it was very clear to us at Boating Industry that Mercury Marine continues to set new benchmarks not only in the outboard engine segment, but in the marine industry, and the 400-hp Verado is no exception,” said Adam Quandt, managing editor of Boating Industry, in the release. “To pack that amount of power in a quiet and lightweight package, the new Verado hits on all marks and is sure to satisfy customers across the board.”

Matching its 350-hp sibling with a weight of just 668 pounds, the Verado 400 is the lightest outboard in the 400-hp outboard engine category by almost 300 pounds, according to the release.

“We want to thank Boating Industry for selecting our 400-hp Verado as a Top Product,” said Chris Drees, Mercury Marine president, in the release. “We were honored to win for our V-6 last year and thrilled to win in 2019 for our 400-hp outboard.

“I’ve heard fantastic feedback over the past few months, starting with Miami taking us all the way through boating season,” he continued. “Consumers have been looking for an extension of our Verado platform, and our engineers developed another product that will set a new benchmark in the marine industry.”
