Mercury Racing Adds To MAX5 Propeller Line

Unveiled at the Miami International Boat Show today, Mercury Racing‘s latest propellers reportedly add versality and performance to the Fond du Lac, Wis., company’s MAX5 line of five-blade wheels developed for single- and multiple-engine applications including the Verado 400R outboard and 600SCi stern-drive. With its 15-1/4-inch diameter, the new MAX5 base model reportedly lowers propeller slip 3 to 4 percent from the original 15-inch-diamater version in “select outboard and sterndrive applications that benefit from elevated transom heights,” according to a press release from Mercury Racing.

Mercury Racing has added two new propellers to its MAX5 line.

Also released in Miami today, the MAX5 ST propeller is designed for Mercury Racing’s 4.6-liter V-8 300R outboard with its (standard) SportMaster gearcase. According to the release, the MAX5 ST’s shortened exhaust barrel “enhances the performance of single-engine bass boats and twin-engine catamarans by keeping the stern planted for a confidence-inspired ride, while the large 15-1/4-inch-diameter prop stays hooked up at extreme engine heights.”

According to the release, a 300R outboard engine spinning a 31-inch-pitch MAX5 ST prop powered a tournament-loaded Bullet 21 XRS bass boat to 97.5 mph with 7 percent slip. All MAX5 propellers feature the Mercury-patented Performance Vent System, which “enables the user to fine-tune the amount of venting needed for quick planing.”
