Mercury Racing To Bring Back 700 SCi Engine
Though rumors of a comeback started swirling immediately after Mercury Racing pulled its stalwart 700 SCi engine from its line-up about a year ago, they entered the realm of fact today during the third annual Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats dealer meeting at the Westin Hotel in Cape Coral, Fla. Stuart Halley, the general manager of the Fond du Lac, Wis., high-performance marine engine and accessories company, announced the official return of the supercharged 700-hp offering this morning during a series of Nor-Tech vendor presentations.
Shown here in a new DCB Performance Boats M31 Widebody catamaran on display at today’s Desert Storm Poker Run Street Party, Mercury Racing’s popular 700 SCi engine is officially back in the company’s lineup.
“It seems like every time we discontinue an engine we get a surge of interest in it,” said Halley. “So we’re bringing the 700 SCi back.”
According to Steve Miller, Mercury Racing’s director of marketing, sales and service, new 700 SCi engines will begin shipping in August. The company currently is getting the product “back in the system” so boat builders can begin ordering them anew.
“That should be finished in the next couple of weeks,” he said.
