Miami Boat Show Beauties, Cigarette and Eliminator Eye The Future, Donzi 41 GTZ Evaluation And More In New FREE Digital Magazine

Though it seems like it happened a long time ago in a different world because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Miami International Boat Show started the New Year on a strong note and—with help from our friend and chief photographer Pete Boden—we bring you a closer look at 13 spectacular models that were part of the 2020 show at Miami Marine Stadium in the year’s first Speed On The Water digital magazine, which you can download for free here. Along with 30 pages of dedicated boat show coverage, in this issue we examine the new-for-2020 Fountain Powerboats 34 Sport Console, which kick starts a series of Fountain center consoles that fits between its Bluewater fishing and NX luxury social-platform center console lines. As Fountain and Donzi Marine are under the same ownership and roof in Washington, N.C., we also take a look at the new Donzi 41 GTZ, a sexy performance-oriented day boat powered by three outboard engines.

The latest issue includes other features beyond boat profiles, such an informative Q&A article with APBA Offshore Commission Chairman Rich Luhrs. We also caught up with the principals of Florida’s Cigarette Racing Team and California’s Eliminator Boats—two longstanding performance boat companies that celebrated their 50th anniversaries in 2019—to find out where they might be heading in the short- and long-term.

There is no question that the novel coronavirus will challenge the nation and the industry in a way it never has been before. But if the 2008 recession proved anything, it’s that the best companies find a way to survive, even if it means reinventing themselves. No go-fast boatbuilder can last even five years, much less 50, without keen survival skills.
