MTI Wrapping Up Top-Secret Cat to Debut in Key West

Deep in the middle of a move into the newly opened Haulover Marine Center in North Miami, which has been revitalized by Westrec MarinasXtreme Powerboats owner Larry Goldman is flying to Wentzville, Mo., this week to check in on a new MTI being built for one of his highest-profile customers.

Speedonthewater.com got a chance to see the show-stopping boat in the paint booth and take a gander at its interior design and some of its special features during a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Missouri a few weeks ago—and Goldman isn’t kidding when he says that the boat he’s been working on for more than a year is “over the top.”

“This new boat is going to be incredible,” said Goldman, adding that the MTI will make its public debut at the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run in November (stay tuned for teaser images and stories throughout the next several weeks). “For those people who know the owner, it’s as over the top as they are expecting it to be—and more. MTI has implemented some cutting-edge design techniques for this boat.”

Goldman, who has owned Xtreme Powerboats for more than 20 years, said he’s been working closely with MTI, Mercury Racing and several “special material” vendors to bring the project to life. He can’t wait to show it off in Key West, and we can’t wait to see the finished product.
