Niemann Teaming Up With Sheriff Lobo For Key West Worlds

According to an announcement from Phantom 9 Racing’s Mark Niemann, the veteran offshore racer is going to join Team Sheriff Lobo owner and throttleman Shameel Mohammed for next month’s Key West Offshore World Championships (Nov. 3-10) being organized by Race World Offshore.

The duo is hoping to challenge for the Super Vee Extreme class world championship by combining years of experience in the cockpit of the single-engine 29-foot Extreme V-bottom that has been a fan favorite at the event for several years thanks to the charismatic crew from Trinidad, the dual-island Caribbean nation (along with and Tobago) that is located near Venezuela and known for its distinctive Creole traditions and cuisines.

After a season away from the single-engine V-bottom class competition, and a couple of respectable finishes in the Supercat Class with Chuck Broaddus in the Broadco MTI catamaran, Niemann is excited to be partnering with Mohammed, who is nicknamed Shamo.

“I’m pleased to be returning to the class, especially for Key West,” Niemann said. “I’ve enjoyed success in the category over the years. The Sheriff Lobo team is a class act and has demonstrated good pace on the course, so I’m looking forward to joining Shamo for the most competitive race of the season.”

Mohammed said he is ready to join forces with Niemann for the Key West races.

“On behalf of Team Sheriff Lobo, we welcome Mark on our team,” Mohammed said. “Mark has done an awesome job with Phantom 9 and brings a wealth of experience to this partnership.

“Key West here we come,” he added.
