NJPPC Seeking Boats and Drivers for Veteran Rides

Saturday powerboat rides for veterans have become a traditional high point during the annual Atlantic City Grand Prix weekend, which includes a poker run on Friday and an offshore powerboat race on Sunday, and is scheduled for June 17-19 on the New Jersey shore. That tradition will continue again this year as more than 100 veterans from the Combat Wounded Veterans of America organization and their families, according to New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club president Dave Patnaude, have registered for Saturday’s boat rides.

To meet that demand, Patnaude is still seeking for powerboat owners willing to spend the day giving rides to those who served their country and were injured in the course of duty.

“We are looking for boat owners to volunteer their time and their boats to help a veteran see the beauty of the Atlantic City skyline from the water,” Patnaude wrote today in an NJPPC email. “We will be boarding the veterans from the bulkhead between ‘E’ and ‘F’ docks starting at 12 p.m.

“As a thank-you, we are also hosting a private cocktail party for the veterans that evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Observation Deck—the rooftop of Chart House,” he continued. “There will be complimentary beer, wine and light food. All veteran boat-ride captains will be given two complimentary passes to join the offshore powerboat racers and the veterans.”
