Nordic Boats Shows Off First 34 Deck Boat

The biggest deck boat to come out of the Nordic Boats facility in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., recently hit the water, and the team at Nordic—along with the owner of the company’s first 34 Deck Boat—are excited to show it off.

So much so that they brought the boat to a Speedboat Magazine test on Lake Havasu last Thursday (the day before the Friday and Saturday Monster Bash fun) as well as a Sunday morning photo shoot for the Speed On The Water 2016 Year In Review print magazine with photographer Tom Leigh of Tommy Gun Images and helicopter pilot Fred Young of Las Vegas-based Maverick Helicopter.

“The boat runs great—it’s a real nice ride,” said Nordic’s John Lovell, who helped man a Nordic V-bottom that served as a Monster Bash card stop on Saturday. “It’s based off of our 29 Deck Boat so it feels like a 29 just bigger. It has great acceleration out of the hole and throughout the midrange. We’ve had it over 100 mph with a pretty conservative setup. It’s a deck boat; it’s not like you need to go any faster than that, nor anywhere near that speed with a bunch of people on board.”

Lovell said the customer, who resides in Alaska but owns a home in Lake Havasu City, is beyond happy with the boat, which is powered by twin Mercury Racing 600SCi engines.

The 34 Deck Boat features an interesting and colorful blend of black, white, blues, grays and purples in the gelcoat, Neatly installed, the nearly all-white interior has the perfect amount of blue and gray upholstery accents on the seats, lounges, gunwales and sun pads. The gelcoat inserts in the back of the driver and copilot bucket seats are a nice touch.

Thanks to its extended length, the 34-footer has a pair of long lounges up front and a spacious U-shape lounge in the rear with seating for five across the contoured backbench.

Nordic doesn’t have another 34 Deck Boat in production at the moment but Lovell wouldn’t be surprised if some customer demos they have lined up lead to orders. Before that though, Nordic has more 26- and 29-foot deck boats to crank out as well as two 43-foot catamarans, which speedonthewater.com will be sure to follow as they progress.
