Outerlimits At Your Service

New builds aren’t just the core of Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats’ business, they move the needle for devoted fans of the brand in a way nothing else can. But taking care of existing models and their owners also is very much part of the Outerlimits program, and to that end the Bristol, R.I., company is in the process of bolstering its in-house service program.

Outerlimits offers an array of service options at its Bristol, R.I., headquarters.

“We offer all maintenance services for Mercury Racing engines and custom power packages,” said Jason Amaral, Outerlimits’ operations manager. “We have service packages available for the different Mercury Racing engines including 700s, 1075s and the Quad Cam Four Valve series models. We offer full re-rigs, paint and upholstery repair and new upholstery installation. We also offer trailer repair and service, and we have plenty of space to handle larger trailers.

“I don’t care if you have an Outerlimits or a Baja or a Fountain,” he added, then laughed. “We’ll be happy to service it. We want to be the go-to service center for high-performance powerboat owners in the Northeast.”

Crucial to the Outerlimits service crew is longtime employee Angelo Tavares. Tavares and Amaral are now heading up the company’s service department, which has been reorganized to create more space and better workflow.

“Angelo is an incredible asset to the team—he started our original service center—and my go-to guy for just about anything in the shop,” said Amaral. “We work very well together and get jobs done quickly and on time. Billy Dutra, our lead rigger, is one of the best in the business—all you have to do to see that is look into the bilge of one of our boats. He will also be assisting in the service department when he isn’t busy with all the new current builds we have going.

“And we have an unbelievable drive technician named Gary Leitao,” he added. “In addition to rebuilding drives for our pleasure-boat customers, he has done all the work for the Outerlimits race teams, as well as the kilo boat.
