Outerlimits Ozarks Fun Run Attracts Record 33-Boat Fleet

Though the blistering, 164-mph pass by the 51-foot Factory Billet Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats V-bottom stole the show for the brand during the 32nd annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, it wasn’t the only big number to come out of the weeklong event for the Bristol, R.I., company. Last Friday’s fifth Outerlimits Fun Run on the Central Missouri waterway attracted a record-setting 33 boats.

Relatively short but loaded with Outerlimits customers, the run kicked off with breakfast at Jolly Rogers Grub and Grog then departed for Big Dick’s Halfway Inn before finishing up for lunch at the Tap and Grill Lakeside Brew Haus. Among the custom high-performance V-bottom and catamaran builder’s longtime customers who attended was Michigan’s Burton Kirsten, who has been keeping Jet, his SC 46 catamaran at the lake this season.

“Dan Kleitz and company did a great job of organizing,” said Kirsten, who treated speedonthewater.com national sales manager Ryan Johnson to the day in his magnificent 46-footer. “And (Michael) Doc Janssen led us to the stops.”

Kleitz, the company’s national sales manager, piloted a canopied SV 40 raceboat with Wisconsinite Vinnie Diorio of the SV Racing, which runs a 39-foot Outerlimits catamaran with 750-hp Factory Billet engines in the Supercat class, in the event. (Diorio’s SV 43 pleasure boat currently is for sale.)

“Vinnie wheeled and I throttled during the run,” said Kleitz. “It was a great time.”

“And in the Shootout on the weekend, our customer Jeff Henry, who joined us for the fun run ran his 2020 SL 50 with Mercury Racing 1100/1350s, ran it to 136 mph,” he added. “That’s a great number for that boat with that power in three quarters of a mile.”

Better still for Kleitz and the team at Outerlimits, the event translated to sales and expansion of its customer base.

“Not only did we have a great turnout for the fun run, we sold two boats to first-time Outerlimits customers,” he said. “Our clients came from all over the country for the event. It really shows how incredible the Outerlimits family is.”

Outerlimits men Dan Kleitz and Vinnie Diorio ran this SV 40 raceboat in the fun run.
