MDC And Porta Products Team Up On Position-On-Demand Outboard System

Though exotic powerboats and lovely scenery grab most of the attention during the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri, high-performance marine product manufacturers display their wares at the Shootout On Dam street festival and the beachfront exhibit at Captain Ron’s Bar and Grill, the host venue for the weeklong event. Among those products this year is the new POD by Porta powered by TrimSync outboard height and trim system, which is collaboration between Porta Products of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Chicago-based Marine Design Corporation.

Marine Design Corporation and Porta Products are collaborating on an integrated outboard-positioning system.

Called Position On Demand powered by TrimSync or POD, the push-bottom system enables owners of outboard-equipped powerboats to establish pre-sets for outboard height and trim.

“Adjusting engine trim and transom lift—the height of the outboard motor relative to the running surface—has always been somewhat of a fine art,” said Scott Porta, the owner of Porta Products, in a combined press release from the companies. “With the POD powered by TrimSync, all of the guess work goes away.”

The POD powered by TrimSync system, according to the release, enables operators to “set and forget” those parameters. Four different operating positions for optimum trim and transom lift can be pre-set and recalled to accommodate real-world parameters including load and horsepower.

The Porta Transom Lift System allows vertical movement up to 24 inches setback back eight to 26 inches. The POD will integrate the height of the outboard engine anywhere needed to achieve the optimum acceleration from coming on plane to top speed.

“We have been building TrimSync for many years for high performance and multi-engine applications,” said Mike Cleseri, the owner of Marine Design Corp. “Integrating our technology with the features of the POD for the Porta Transom Lift was a natural.”

The POD powered by TrimSync system will be showcased during the virtual International Boatbuilders Exhibition in September 2020.
