The P1 SuperStock USA race boats will be bringing the show to Florida’s Lake Okeechobee this weekend.

As the fleet of P1 SuperStock USA race boats arrive in Pahokee, Fla., today for the third round of the P1 SuperStock USA Championship, the expectations are high for some competitive racing following the cancellation of the second round in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Racing near the Lake Okeechobee Resort, the P1 fleet of Panther race boats will be joined by the P1 AquaX jet skis to provide spectators with a packed program of racing throughout the weekend.

Rough conditions at Daytona Beach last month resulted in the P1 SuperStock racing being cancelled, but the four races will be run at Pahokee on Saturday afternoon together with the opening AquaX race.

“After the disappointment of not racing at Daytona Beach, I’m looking forward to seeing the nine SuperStock USA boats back in action,” Rangoonwala declared. “It will be a demanding weekend for the teams and, with just two more rounds to follow, they are all very much aware of how important these two days will be in deciding who is crowned national champion in September.”

Rangoonwala’s other goal is to ensure that no harm comes to the local wildlife, which includes alligators, manatees, turtles and more.

“Wherever P1 races, we recognize the need and embrace the value of protecting the environment and conserving natural resources,” said Rangoonwala, who lives and works in Florida and has a sign on his office wall that says ‘Race boats and wildlife don’t mix.’

Husband and wife team Craig and Cynthia Belfatto from Apollo Beach, Fla., have been notching up hours of practice as they look to mount their challenge for the P1 SuperStock USA title in the Livorsi boat. Craig said he expects the racing to be extremely competitive and aims to be in contention in all eight races.

The father and son pairing of Tom and Jason Morton from North Carolina is the points leader in the Team Morton Water boat after the opening round on the Stuart Causeway in April, but Jason will have Walt Cox alongside him in the cockpit this weekend as his dad is recovering from triple bypass surgery.
