Performance Boat Center Fall Fun Run On Deck

Though Central Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks has an off-season, Performance Boat Center, the well-known full-service powerboat dealership nestled on its shores in Osage Beach, does not. Between ongoing winter projects and various boat shows, Mark Waddington, Brett Manire, Myrick Coil and the rest of the Performance Boat Center crew manage to stay busy year-round, which is why for the past seven years they’ve organized and hosted a Fall Fun Run on the lake.

This year’s event is set for Saturday, October 6.

“It’s great time for us to give the staff a day off and go boating,” said Manire. “There is no charge for the run and it’s not brand-specific. It’s open to everyone who wants to enjoy a day of casual fall boating. And the weather is usually good. I could end up boating in sweatshirt, but it’s just as likely that I’ll end up in a pair of shorts and a T-shirt.

“We serve a breakfast we pay for in the Performance Boat Center showroom, which is followed by a drivers meeting before we head out,” he continued. “We usually just make one stop for lunch before come back to the Redhead Lakeside Grill here for some kind of dinner. Last year, we did a Cajun-style crab and shrimp boil.”

Manire said they have not settled on a lunch stop just yet. He is expecting 30 to 40 entries to take part in the event.

“We still have to see who is still going to be open and is ready to have 30 to 40 powerboats show up at the docks,” he said. “I have places asking us to come and I still need to go take a look at a few of them—it’s nice to try different places on the lake, especially some of the smaller ones.

“It’s just a chill day of boating, which is why we limit the stops to just one,” he added. “Then we come back to the Redhead, kick back and party.”
