Performance Boat Club of Canada Kicking Off 2019 Season With Sarnia Shakedown

No group of go-fast boat enthusiasts is traditionally more ready for the weather to warm up than the members of the Ontario, Canada-based Performance Boat Club of Canada. To that end, the nonprofit organization, which raises money for local charities in its various poker run venues throughout the boating season, will kick off its 2019 event schedule with its Sarnia Shakedown run May 31-June 2.

Proceeds from the happening, which is sponsored by Concord Hardware, will go to St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia and Fore the Cure, an annual golf tournament fundraiser for breast cancer research.

“Dust the cobwebs off your motors and join us for a shakedown run down the St. Clair River and Lake St. Clair to the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit,” said Meghan Brousseau, the president of the PBCC. “We’ll also stop for lunch the Windsor Yacht Club.

“We’ll kick off festivities Friday night with a BBQ in the pavilion at Sarnia Bay marina,” she continued. “Once again, the marina will be home base for us.”

The club is encouraging “U.S. friends coming by boat” to join the event. Participants from the United States need to call Canadian Customs (810-985-9972) when they reach Sarnia Bay and will need to have their passport and vessel information—including registration number—ready. Passengers also will be required to provide proof-of-citizenship documents.

From the U.S. Department of State Website: “Entry into Canada: Canadian law requires that all persons entering Canada carry both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. A valid U.S. passport, passport card, or NEXUS card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens. Children under 16 need only present proof of U.S. citizenship.”

Participants can click here to register for the event. For more information, visit the PBCC website.
