Reached by phone this morning, Frank Chivas, the longtime leading organizer of offshore races in Clearwater, confirmed that while he looks forward to working with the P1/OPA groups those dates—and his commitment to bringing the circuit to Clearwater for it season finale—are still “tentative.”

“I want to wait for the RFP (Request For Production) for the race in Key West to be completed,” he said. “That why I’m saying, for now, it’s ‘TBD,’ to be determined.

The P1/OPA circuit will kick off with its season-opener in Cocoa Beach, Fla., May 18-19, followed the Lake Race, June 1-2, in Missouri. From there, it will pick up again July 6-7 in Sarasota, Fla., followed by two more races— St. Clair, Mich., July 27-28 and Michigan City, Ind., Aug. 3-4—before moving to Clearwater for the series finale.

Also under the APBA umbrella, the five-stop SuperStock circuit will include:

Round 1: Kissimmee/St Cloud, May 11.
Round 2: Cocoa Beach, May 18-19.
Round 3: St Pete Beach, 15/16 June 15-16
Round 4: Sarasota, July 6-7
Round 5: Clearwater, Sept. 28-29 (TBD).
