Scott Free Racing Inks New Sponsors For APBA Offshore Championships Series

The venerable offshore racing team Scott Free Racing announced this week that it has signed two new associate partnership agreements for the upcoming American Power Boat Assocation Offshore Championship Series. STEEL-IT®, a manufacturer of anticorrosive and high temperature-resistant coatings, and Sea-Dog Line, which is a quality marine gear company, are going to support the father-and-son team of Steve and Stephen Kildahl for the 2020 season, according to a press release from the team, which also continues to be backed by longtime primary sponsor Boat Floater Industries and associate sponsors, Pacer Group and E-Z Up.

The deal with STEEL-IT, which has been in business since 1974, is going to allow branding on Scott Free Racing’s team assets and the opportunity to interact and engage with fans in the pit area to help educate and demonstrate the use of the company’s products, which contain custom-engineered 316L stainless-steel flake for superior protection against corrosion, abrasion and harsh chemicals.

“The makers of the STEEL-IT brand are proud to sponsor Scott Free Racing,” said Michael Faigen, STEEL-IT’s president and CEO. “We feel privileged to have been able to work with the team for 2019 field testing our product and were very happy with the results in the marine element.”

As part of the partnership, STEEL-IT and the team are going to be creating unique video and social media content to further activate within the avid boater fan base.

“We are excited to be working with STEEL-IT and introducing a new product to the marine market,” said Stephen Kildahl, vice president and driver of Scott Free Racing. “We have been running its black polyurethane aerosol product on our engine mounts and have had great success, and it is a very easy-to-use product that can be done in-house.”

Scott Free Racing is also excited to have Sea-Dog Corporation backing the team this season as the Everett, Wash.-based company has been servicing the wholesale and commercial marine industry for nearly 100 years and offers a full line of marine hardware and accessories in stainless steel, brass, bronze, chrome plate, galvanized and injection-molded plastic.

According to Kildahl, the deal with Sea-Dog allows Sea-Dog Line the opportunity to bring its wholesalers to the races for a VIP experience.

“Sea-Dog is excited to be partnering with Scott Free Racing for the upcoming APBA Offshore Championship Series,” said Greg Duncan, the company’s director of marketing. “As a family owned and operated pleasure boating-focused company that has been in business for more than 90 years, the opportunity for Sea-Dog to work with another highly successful family owned and operated marine organization is a terrific way to start the new decade.”

“We are very excited to be able to represent the Sea-Dog Line brand on the offshore circuit this year,” Kildahl added. “Their history in the marine industry speaks for itself and we look forward to increasing their brand awareness in the high-performance market.”

Scott Free Racing is going to kick off the season in Cocoa Beach, Fla. (May 14-17) for the first round of the APBA Offshore Championship Series.
