Slideshow of the Week, Part I: Miami Boat Show by Jay Nichols

By the time photographer Jay Nichols finishes loading his 2015 Miami International Boat Show Flickr Galley it will be filled with more than 100 images from the annual event, which ends today. For Nichols, the Miami show is an open field of eye-candy that’s ideal for digital capture. While his color-saturated style isn’t for everyone or every event, it’s ideal for the Miami showt, which inside and out lacks for anything resembling decent light for photography. So Nichols’ Photoshop color play make his images from the show a lot of fun.

On Thursday, Nichols will be in his usual perch on the bridge before the Florida Powerboat Club’s  Miami Boat Show Poker Run on the last bridge before the lunch stop at Gilbert’s in Key Largo. Among his primary goals, of course, is to shoot boats that were displayed at the show on the water, but those go-fast catamarans and V-bottoms will comprise a small portion of the event’s 80- to 100-boat fleet. Truth be told, most of the hardware on the run wasn’t displayed in the show—but it’s still some of the most amazing stuff the go-fast powerboat world has to offer.
