Victory 34 VTX Sport Catamaran ‘A 32 On Steroids’

Unveiled at South Florida’s annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late-October 2018, the Victory 32 VTX sport catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines turned heads wherever it went. That included last November’s Super Boat International Offshore World Championships in Key West, where it pulled paceboat duty on all three race days.

But for all intents and purposes the 32-footer was a one-off, a teaser boat designed to spark interest in the Dubai-based Victory Team’s 34 VTX model. In fact, as previously reported on speedonthewater.com the Victory outfit will not sell the 32 VTX in the United States. Instead, the Emirates-based race- and pleasure-boat builder will market its 34 VTX and 27 VTX—the 27-footer will be powered by twin Mercury Racing 300R outboards—sport cats to U.S. buyers.

“The 34 is a 32 on steroids,” said Maldonado. “It’s not just bigger. It’s lighter and quicker and a whole lot faster. Even with 32-inch props on the rev limiters, it ran 119 mph during testing in Dubai when I was there last week. I have 34-inch pitch props coming and I believe the boat will run 125 or 126 mph. It’s really light—less than 5,000 pounds. It’s also sleeker. The deck goes even lower at the transom.

“Everything about it is more aerodynamic and ergonomic,” he continued. “The windshield goes all the way back to the rear of the cockpit, and they expanded the bolster-bench seating from three to four passengers. Those seats lay back more so they’re more comfortable and the wind doesn’t hit you in the face where you’re sitting back there. You feel like you’re in a raceboat with a canopy. The forward visibility from the bucket seats is better. And the freeboard is unbelievable. The cockpit is 40 inches deep.”

Though he declined to disclose specific at this time, Maldonado said he is working on a five-dealer network with distributors in California, Florida and Texas. The first 34 VTX should arrive in the U.S. in the next month or so.

“It’s coming with a new 32-foot Victory raceboat like the one built for Gary Ballough,” he said. “The raceboat is already sold—I can’t disclose who the owner is. He just wants to show up at races with it and suprise everyone.”
