Sunday Fun Day: Jerry Graves

My best Sunday Fun Days include a ride out to the beach—Woodlawn or Mickey Rats or Sunset Bay—and rafting off, maybe even doing some tubing if my grandchildren are aboard, and enjoying a few drinks. We all usually share food on board and often fire up the attached grill.

Jerry Graves owns a 31-foot sportboat called INXS (above) and a 32-foot sport cruiser.

We share many Sundays with guys from my marina and their families. If Lake Erie is rough we all meet and raft off at a spot between Grand Island and Pirate Island. The stereos will be playing and many of us will have floating tubes, just so we can hang out in the water and cool off.

I ply the waters of Lake Erie and the Niagara River. I am lucky to have two boats—a 31’ Challenger sportboat called INXS and a 32’ Powerquest SC (Sport Cruiser) that we’ll name this spring—so a “Sunday Fun Day” on the boat can vary depending on how many passengers are on board.

Editor’s note: An experienced sportboat owner, Jerry Graves lives in the Buffalo, N.Y., area and is a longtime member of the Western New York Offshore Powerboat Association and a regular participant in the annual Buffalo Poker Run.
