Sunoco To Fuel APBA Offshore Championship Series

With their inaugural season kicking off May 17-19 in Cocoa Beach, Fla., organizers of the APBA Offshore Championship Series has partnered with Sunoco Race Fuels for the season. Sunoco will be the “Official Fuel Provider” for the six-race circuit, which is being produced by the Offshore Powerboat Association and Powerboat P1 outfits.

“As you know Sunoco has a long history of supporting Offshore Racing dating back to the early days, and we are excited to be a part of this race series” said Rick Williams, the president of Southern Racing Fuels, in a press release from Powerboat P1. “Sunoco has provided many National and World Champion race teams with performance fuels, and we appreciate their support over the years.”

Sunoco performance fuels will be available at each race venue offering “professional and consistent on-site service,” according to the release.

“Forming corporate partnerships and series sponsors like Sunoco are extremely important as we focus on growing this new race series,” said Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1 and Ed Smith, the president of OPA, in a joint statement in the release.

Earlier this week, the organizers of the APBA Offshore Championship Series announced the television and Livestream online coverage plans for the circuit.
