Sunsation Rolling Out Red Carpet for its Customers at the Shootout

According to Sunsation Boats co-owner Jared Morris, the Algonac, Mich., company has been busy getting its plans in order for next week’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Missouri.

Pointing out that the docks are for any Sunsation customers to utilize whether they’re owners of a newer 34-foot center console or a decade-or-two-old 28-foot sportboat, Morris said Carpenter will not have the attention-getting stealth-edition 34 CCX powered by triple Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines at Wednesday’s Shootout on the Strip. At the moment he’s working on rounding up another customer’s 34-footer to show off, but he said that Performance Boat Center will be displaying a new Sunsation 36 SSR with twin Mercury Racing 565 engines (download the Speed On The Water magazine feature here) at the event as well as in the dealership’s showroom on Thursday at its open-invite party.

“We enjoy the Shootout so much because we have a lot of customers at the lake and, at the same time, we love running our boats at the event—there’s not another place like in the country,” said Morris, adding that Sunsation will have two of its 34 CCX models with triple Verado 400R engines on display at the Shootout docks as well as the 36 SSR with possible demo rides available. “We invite everyone to come take a look at our boats, and of course we want to see all of our customers, past and present. We even have some shirts and other goodies to give out.”

Morris said Sunsation’s Wayne Schaldendbrand is planning to run one of their customer’s 32 XRT models with twin 425-hp MerCruiser 496 Mag HO engines in the Shootout. Morris and Schaldenbrand are also looking forward to sharing photos and information with anyone interested in the company’s soon-to-be-released 32 CCX—the sibling to the 29 CCX and 34 CCX models.
