Wozencraft World Tour Stop No. 10: Lake Of The Ozarks

As noted in the most recent chronicle of Devin Wozencraft’s 2019 summer “World Tour,” the high-performance marine insurance specialist plans his event-based travel to minimize “zig-zagging across the country.” No two events fit better into that travel strategy than the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Super Cat Fest, which share the same Central Missouri waterway and run concurrently during the same week/weekend in late August.

But Woznecraft’s annual trek to a couple of the most significant events in any given go-fast boating season paid even bigger dividends than usual this year. On Wednesday night, he showcased his 30-foot Skater in the Wozencraft Insurance Agency display in the Shootout On The Strip exhibit sponsored by Waves and Wheels. The following evening, he shook hands and kissed babies at the ever-epic Performance Boat Center Welcome Party.

On Friday, he stopped by the open house at Waves and Wheels on the Boardwalk to check out the facility and congratulate proprietor Justin Wagner on his ongoing success and expansion. From there, he headed to the annual Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats owners gathering hosted by Michael “Doc” Janssen at his waterfront home. That night, he hung out with the Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Powerboats faithful at their exclusive owners dinner celebration.

And, of course, throughout the weekend he logged hours on the Camden On The Lake Resort docks, the host venue for Super Cat Fest.

Between the inaugural Outerlimits Factory Fun Run where we spent some quality together earlier in August and the Central Missouri happenings where I saw him only in passing, I chatted with Wozencraft about his grueling travel schedule. I’ve spent more time on the road this year than I have in at least a dozen years, but my travels in 2019 pale next to Wozencraft’s.

Point blank, I asked him if it was really worth the considerable time and expense it takes.

“Yes, I feel like I am investing in the company’s future,” he said. “Our inbound phone calls for boat insurance continue to rise. We keep track of how people hear about us, and so much of it is due to me meeting people at the various venues. Then if we do well for them, they start telling all their other boating buddies in their circle.

“None of my competitors are doing this,” he added. “They don’t even own a boat. I feel this is huge.”

Wozencraft paused and laughed. “The other reason I keep doing this?” he said. “The Speedonthewater.com Wozencraft World Tour write-ups, baby.”

Editor’s Note: The final stop on the 2019 Wozencraft World Tour is Monster Storm Poker Run, October 12-13 in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
