Wright Performance 360 Runs 130 MPH With Mercury Racing 450R Outboards

Though the first Wright Performance sport catamaran out of Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R engines is a 42-footer owned by Win Farnsworth of South Florida, it was only a matter of time before the multi-brand powerboat dealership unveiled a 36-footer with the same power package. That happened earlier this week with the release of the first Wright Performance 360, which is going to a buyer Maryland, powered by the Fond du Lac, Wis., company’s supercharged V-8 outboards.

Headed to an East Coast buyer, the first Wright Performance 360 sport cat powered by Mercury Racing 450R outboards wowed the team at Performance Boat Center (click image to enlarge).

Performance Boat Center’s Brett Manire and Myrick Coil put the 36-footer through its first test session on the Lake of the Ozarks. Both were impressed with the boat’s performance, which included a top speed of 130 mph.

“It was insane—and we’re still working on the setup,” said Manire. “With 36-inch-pitch props, we were on the rev limiters so once we get it dialed in I’m thinking of ordering some 37-inch props to see if we can get more out of it.

“It was fun to the point where Myrick and I were giggling like kids,” he continued. “The power at 90 mph when you punch it is incredible.”

Manire said he was particularly impressed with how free of vibration and noise the engines were during the test session.

“It’s so smooth,” he said. “It’s like a sewing machine.”
