Countdown To Miami 2022: Formula Bringing Big Outboard Heat

As has been well-documented on this website, Formula Boats’ transition from building noteworthy stern-drive-engine-powered, high-performance V-bottoms to manufacturing versatile sport cruisers has been nothing short of remarkable. And like its fellow former go-fast sportboat and catamaran companies that have gone the high-performance center-console route, the Decatur, Ind., manufacturer has embraced the outboard engine movement.

All of which will be in full display at the upcoming Miami International Boat Show, which is slated for February 16-20 at the Miami Convention and—across Biscayne Bay—at Sea Isle Marina and Yachting Center.

A pair of 500 Super Sport Crossover models powered by quad Mercury Marine Verado 600 outboard engines will be among the Formula offerings displayed in Miami next month.

Among the highlights of Formula’s Miami showcase will be a 500 Super Sport Crossover model powered by quad Mercury Marine Verado 600 outboard engines.

A scale model of the 50-footer will be showcased at Formula display inside the convention center. Additional models in the exhibit will include a 290 Bow Rider, a 310 Bow Rider Outboard, a 330 Crossover Bow Rider, a 350 Crossover Bowrider and 350 Super Sport.

For attendees who want to enjoy the 500 SSC in person and on the water, the 50-foot beauty will be at Sea Isle Marina docks along with a 430 All Sport Crossover powered by four Mercury Racing 450R outboards and 430 SSC with the same propulsion package.
