Mercury Marine Verado 600 Outboard Earns Top Honor From European Marine Press

The world’s first V-12 outboard engine, Mercury Marine’s Verado 600 has earned the 2022 European Powerboat of the Year Innovation Award for the Fond du Lac, Wis., marine engine and accessories. The honor marks the first time a “marine propulsion solution” has been chosen for the award, according to a press release from Mercury Marine.

The 600-hp outboard engine was selected for the honor by a panel of writers and editors from marine media publications in Europe. According to the release, the award is presented “only when extraordinary innovation occurs in the market.” The 7.6-liter outboard, which boasts an integrated automatic transmission, a steerable lower unit with counter-rotating propellers and more earned that distinction from the panel of judges.

“We are thrilled to receive the European Powerboat of the Year Innovation Award,” said Will Sangster, president of Mercury EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), in the release. “The Mercury V-12, 600-hp Verado outboard is the most innovative and highest-performing outboard engine in the world, and this award is a testament to the world-class innovation from Mercury.”

The award is the second major honor the engine has earned this year since it was introduced in February 2021. During the 2002 Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month, the Verado 600 earned an Innovation Award in the Vehicle and Transportation category.
