At present, almost 30 members of the nonprofit, scholarship fundraising outfit have signed up for the run, which is returning to the Village Brewhouse restaurant—in Fishermen’s Village—in Punta Gorda. The event is one of the club’s two designated fundraisers this season. As such, the organizers are requesting a minimum donation from each captain. (All donations to Fort Myers Offshore are tax deductible.)

Fort Myers Offshore memberships range from $60 per year for a single captain to $250 for a family. Sign-ups can be handled through the organization’s member website.

“We are hoping for 35 boats,” said Tim Hill, the president of Fort Myers Offshore and key organizer of the Roar Offshore Fort Myers powerboat race and the Roar Offshore Poker Run. “We’re setting at 27 boats—and the weather is looking good.”
