Four Horsemen Poker Run Donates $15,000 To Local Abuse Shelter And Services Organization

For the past 12 years, the Four Horsemen Poker Run in Oshkosh, Wis., has raised money for various charities. In 2020, the event organizers selected locally based Christine Anne Domestic Abuse Services and brought in $10,000 for the nonprofit organization. This year, the mid-June event, which attracted 60 high-performance powerboat owners and their guests, raised $15,000 for the charity.

Jason Lindemann of Oshkosh-based Sweetwater Performance Center and Marina, the primary backer of the annual, weekend-long event, presented the donation to the emergency shelter and abuses services outfit yesterday.

“We continue to support our local charities with the overwhelming support of our runners—it’s all about the people who continually show up to the run from all over,” said Lindemann. “Like those of so many other performance-boating events, our supporters have the biggest hearts. We are just amazed every year by their generosity. We hope to continue to be an event worthy of their participants’ unwavering love for performance boating.”

The top-three poker-hand holders, Four Horsemen devotees Matt Sagorac, Don Verkuylen and Dave Weschler donated their winnings back to the charity for a total of $4,500. Dressed as a Snap-On toolbox, a fully stocked cooler fetched $3,400 from participant Jerry Fahrner during the event’s live auction.

“We had several of our boating friends just raise their hands to donate money,” said Gary Swanson, the general manager of the Sweetwater facility. “And Jason (Lindemann) also helped the cause.”

Sweetwater Performance Center and Marina owner Jason Lindemann made the donation official yesterday with Beth Oswald, the director of the Christine Anne Domestic Abuse Services organization.
